This is where in 1184 the monks dug up the bones of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere. At least that&#8217;s what the legend says. In reality, most likely, the monks needed to generate some extra income from pilgrimage. Once the abbey was very prosperous, but then, unfortunately, fell victim to Henry VIII&#8217;s reformation of the Church of England.
